New location for Jacoby Appliance Parts Bronx store

Bronx, N.Y. --- A Bronx neighborhood fixture for the past 40 years has moved, but don't worry folks, it's only moved down the street.

The Jacoby Appliance Parts store, a division of AP Wagner Appliance Parts, is open for business once again, but in a new location at 983 Allerton Ave., just down the street from its old location at 1055 Allerton Ave.

Store Manager Bob Harlacher sees the new location as a vast improvement.

"The new location offers free convenient parking right in front of the store for the customers," said Harlacher. "We can also stock more and we have much more room to do so. Plus the store is nice --its shiny, and new."

A new store with more space is a good thing and the timing could not be better as Harlacher has noticed an uptick in business which coincided with the economy's downturn starting in the fall of 2008.

"I am told the price of (new) appliances has also gone up, so maybe that's another reason people repair their old appliances. I get a lot of (appliance) mechanics in here and that's what they tell me."

Harlacher, who has been helping people find the right appliance part for over 30 years, is glad that the new location is still in the same neighborhood.

"This neighborhood is good," said Harlacher." I get calls from people concerned about their safety, but I tell them that this is a good neighborhood."

And it's a neighborhood with good neighbors, when Harlacher needed to put up a sign letting customers know about the new location, the residential neighbor next to the old store, let Harlacher put up a sign on her fence.
