Maintenance Tips for Dishwashers
WARNING!
To avoid personal injury or death, disconnect your appliance from its power source
before you start any troubleshooting or repair work. Use caution when working inside any appliance.
- Household appliances have average lifetime expectancies.
Maintaining your appliances properly can extend their lifetime
indefinitely.
- Load your dishwasher properly. Run it only when you have a
full load.
- Use only recommended amounts and types of detergent.
- Run an empty load with citric acid or Glisten to clean
stains periodically.
- Load fragile items on the top rack.
- Check hoses for cracking or leaks.
- Some dishwashers have a filter in the basin. Clean it
often and replace the filter if it develops holes. This can help to
protect your pump. Visually inspect the sprayer arm holes for debris
and cracks. Clean as necessary to maintain good water flow.
- Clean the outside with an appliance cleaner or a wash cloth
and dish soap as needed. Try not to get the controls wet. We sell
appliance cleaners if you want a specialty product.
