Why does the display flicker?

warning sign

WARNING!

To avoid personal injury or death, disconnect your appliance from its power source before you start any troubleshooting or repair work. Use caution when working inside any appliance.

Sometimes the display on a microwave will flicker. A flicker can be caused by a power surge, sag, or brief power interruption. If the flickering doesn't seem to affect the way the microwave functions, it's probably okay to keep using it. You may want to use a surge suppressor with this appliance to help prevent any spikes or sags in the power supply. However, if the microwave is not functioning properly, and you think that the flickering is a symptom, you should call a professional appliance repair person.
