Why doesn't my range vent hood remove odors and smoke?WARNING! To avoid personal injury or death, disconnect your appliance from its power source before you start any troubleshooting or repair work. Use caution when working inside any appliance. Some range vent hoods only filter the air and recirculate it back into the room while others are vented to the outside. A combination vent hood can either vent outside, or filter and recirculate. Vent hoods are designed with exact ducting specifications. Do not exceed these as the performance of the hood will be reduced. Make sure to change your activated charcoal filters every 6-12 months or when they are visibly dirty or discolored. Make sure that the grease filter is clean and that the charcoal filter is not plugged or twisted. If the charcoal filter is old, replace it because you can not clean them. Look for animal nests or other debris blocking the ductwork. Make sure the damper can open and close properly. Make sure that the fan is working. Related Topics From Our Repair Forum
