Why won't my vent light dim?WARNING! To avoid personal injury or death, disconnect your appliance from its power source before you start any troubleshooting or repair work. Use caution when working inside any appliance. When the vent light is on a low setting, the current travels through a diode which reduces the voltage by about half which lowers the level of lighting. Sometimes this diode goes bad and needs to be replaced. Some range vent hoods have a dimmer switch that let you adjust the light. If it doesn't work, you need to replace it.
