WARNING!

To avoid personal injury or death, disconnect your appliance from its power source before you start any troubleshooting or repair work. Use caution when working inside any appliance.

Yes, you can test it yourself or send it to a laboratory. The best way to determine exactly what type of filtration system you need is to send a sample to a laboratory. Many hardware stores and home centers sell testing kits. You can purchase a Water Hardness Testing Kit called SofChek which comes with 50 testing strips.

Knowing the hardness level of your water can help you to determine the proper amounts of detergent needed for washing dishes and clothes.
